This award-winning organic winegrower located in the peaceful village of Nadin, just a short ride away from Zadar, offers you authentic Dalmatian ambience, a delightful wine selection and home-made specialties, such as veal or lamb prepared under a ‘peka’. The family-run winery organises wine tastings, lunches and dinners for both the smaller and larger groups of visitors. The Škaulj estate and their organic wines are particularly popular among the Swedish royal family, diplomats and members of the European Parliament. Their wines are exported to the US, Sweden, Russia and Poland.
Škaulj wines (Merlot, Syrah, Cuvee, Cabernet Sauvignon, Maraština) have been recognised and praised by a number of prominent Croatian oenologists. The first top of the range wine in the Zadar region was produced precisely in this winery. The efforts of the Škaulj family have been crowned with a silver medal awarded at the 2012 Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) in London. At the world’s largest and most influential wine competition, Škaulj’s Cabernet Sauvignon was declared the best red wine among 15,200 wine samples from all over the world.
Apart from organic wines and olive oils produced on the Škaulj estate, there are more than a hundred free range chickens, turkeys and lambs, bred specifically for their own gastronomic offer. Their traditional-style Dalmatian restaurant and wine tasting room can accommodate over a hundred wine-lovers.
The family owns and farms over 280 acres of vines in the Ravni kotari Valley, and offers its guests to visit the vineyard or participate in the harvest.
The tour of the Škaulj winery includes wine tasting (6 wines), a snack (locally produced cheese and prosciutto with organic olive oil and bread) and /or lunch consisting of traditional dishes, such as lamb roasted on the spit or ‘peka’.
